Integrated Child Development Services

Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in 1975 for the holistic development of children. The scheme primarily aims at preventing malnutrition and improving child health (aged 0-6). Simultaneously, the mother’s health is given priority under this scheme to ensure her capacity to nurture her child. The importance is laid on early child care and the learning environment. The scheme tries to provide community-based locally responsive childcare approaches.
